The fourth Summer University for international students has kicked off at HSE. The number of Summer University students has almost doubled this year to more than 150, with over a third of them coming independently. Student groups have come from HSE’s partner universities in the United States, South Korea, China, and European countries.
HSE Students Investigate International Academic Mobility Opportunities
On June 23, an international academic mobility fair took place at HSE. Over 25 universities from Europe, USA, China and Japan took part in the event.
HSE Doctoral Students Receive Presidential Grants
Elizaveta Sysoeva (Doctoral School of History) and Alexander Suvalko (Doctoral School of Philosophy), doctoral students at the HSE Faculty of Humanities, have received grants from the Russian President to study abroad in the academic year 2017/18.
Demand for Russian Language Classes Grows
Fifteen American students have come to HSE to study Russian as a foreign language as part of ‘USA in Russia’ study abroad programme developed by the University of South Alabama in partnership with HSE since 2014. Every other year, Nicholas Gossett, Assistant Professor of Russian and Applied Linguistics, brings a group of students to Moscow to study the Russian language as well as attend lectures and seminars on Russian culture, history, business, and other subjects. The goal is for students to not only improve their knowledge of the Russian language but to also make life-long connections in Russia which will help them in the academic, professional, and personal life.
Digital Humanities – What Is It and Why Is It One of the Newest Revolutions in the Humanities?
The scientific landscape is changing before our eyes. Different sciences are becoming more and more intertwined with one another, and this sometimes creates quite unexpected combinations, such as the digital humanities. This field is developing rapidly, with conferences and summer schools now being held on the subject. In addition, HSE recently devoted an entire week to the Digital Humanities. HSE Graduate School of Urbanism and D’est Organize Joint Summer School in France
The HSE Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism together with the French association D’est are organizing a joint summer school this year in France. The School will run from June 25 – July 8, 2017 in Paris and Montpellier and aims to attract students and young professionals in urban development and planning, municipal administration, and civil initiatives.
HSE Enters Top-250 in THE Best Universities in Europe for 2017
On June 21, 2017, Times Higher Education (THE) published its ranking of the best universities in Europe 2017, in which HSE, along with St. Petersburg State University, Novosibirsk State University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and Kazan Federal University, is ranked in the 201-250 group.
International Partner Week Kicks Off at HSE
Representatives of about 30 international universities have come to Moscow to take part in International Partner Week at HSE and discuss cooperation agreements, joint educational programmes, and research and student exchange programmes. On June 23, a partner university fair will be held for HSE students.
HSE Signs Cooperation Agreement with Hitotsubashi University
On June 19 the Higher School of Economics signed a cooperation agreement with Hitotsubashi University in Japan. The agreement covers mutual visits for lecturers and researchers, student exchange programmes, as well as joint research projects, academic events, and publications.
HSE Takes Sixth Place in RAEX Annual Ranking
The results of the ranking were presented on June 7, 2017, at a ceremony that brought together rectors from leading universities. As part of the discussion at the event, HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov spoke about the quality of education in the social sciences, the university’s role in developing local communities, and e-learning.
