Beethoven Online: HSE University Resumes Saturday Concerts
An online event dedicated to the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven was held as part of HSE University’s A University Open to the City project. The event’s online format made it possible to include not only musical fragments, but also detailed comments from experts. In particular, they discussed whether our current times under the conditions of the pandemic have anything in common with the time in which the great composer lived.
Online Educational Platform Tensy Wins KIVO 2020
The results of the 2020 Competition of Innovations in Education were announced at the V International Conference ‘More than Learning: Exploring the Next Normal’, organized by Sberbank Corporate University. This year’s winner was not only selected by the jury practically without discussion, but also received the Audience Award. The results were a rare example of such a unaminous choice in all seven years of the competition.
Intercultural Awareness through the Looking Glass
Dr Anatoly Kharkhurin joined HSE University in 2019 as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences. He received his PhD in Experimental Psychology from the City University of New York and taught in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. This academic year he is teaching Psychology of Thinking and Reasoning and Psycholinguistics. Dr Kharkhurin shared with The HSE Look his perspective on the prospects for the digital transformation of social communication.
HSE Art and Design School Students Among Winners of Arch Moscow 2020 Student Project Competition
At Arch Moscow 2020, master’s students of the HSE Art and Design School won the student project competition in the category ‘Best Architectural and Planning Solution’. In the competition, participants had to conduct a comprehensive analysis of Yauza River bank territories and propose a project for their redevelopment.

The event, sponsored by the Cumulus Association, a global association of art and design universities, will take place online from October 28-30. The programme application period begins on October 22. Artificial Intelligence Can Now Predict Students’ Educational Outcomes Based on Their VK Posts and Tweets
The new model, created by computational social scientist Ivan Smirnov of HSE University, predicts the academic success of Russian high school students with an accuracy of 94%. The model generates its predictions based on users’ distinctive vocabulary and speech patterns, and the predictions have strongly correlated with students’ Unified State Exam (USE) scores.
Golden Bee Biennale Poster Exhibition Opens at HSE ART GALLERY
The works are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus and VKHUTEMAS—the two main art schools of the 20th century that formed the cradle of the European and Russian avant-garde and world design. The posters, which will be on display at the HSE ART GALLERY until November 1, were designed by nominated artists of the Biennale.
